In a move to enhance the nation's energy supply, several U.S. companies are focusing on extracting more electricity from existing nuclear power plants, recognizing the lengthy construction times for new facilities. Constellation Energy, identified as the largest nuclear plant operator in the United States, has announced a significant investment of over $4.3 billion. This funding is earmarked for the refurbishment of 11 reactors across six plants located in Illinois, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.

This initiative aims to optimize the output of current nuclear infrastructure, providing a more immediate solution to energy demands and contributing to climate change goals by increasing the availability of carbon-free electricity.
