An ambitious nature recovery project in England is set to proceed after campaigners successfully raised £30 million to acquire a vast estate in Northumberland.
The initiative, championed by David Attenborough, saw approximately 25,000 members of the public contribute £17 million towards the purchase of the 3,800-hectare Rothbury estate. This effort is being hailed as a "once-in-a-generation opportunity" for rewilding and nature recovery in the region.
