Great Britain is set to see its first new major hydropower projects in over four decades. The energy regulator has given a provisional green light to three proposals, which are part of a broader plan to decrease the country's reliance on energy imports.
These new pumped storage hydroelectric power stations are slated for construction in northern Scotland, where the region's lochs will act as natural reservoirs for the hydropower operations.
