British Paralympian and surgeon John McFall is poised to make history as he prepares to become the first person with a physical disability to live in orbit. This significant development comes after the UK government finalized a deal with Vast, an American company currently constructing a commercial space station.
McFall, who is part of the European Space Agency's (Esa) astronaut reserve, received clearance for space activities last year. He is anticipated to join a mission to the Haven-1 space station, which is slated for launch in 2027, marking a monumental step for inclusivity in space exploration.
