The Assam government has increased the assistance under its flagship Orunodoi scheme to Rs 1,500 for the month of October. This enhanced amount is being provided to beneficiaries as a special Durga Puja gift.
Furthermore, the state Cabinet has approved October 17, 2026, as an additional public holiday for Durga Puja, extending the total number of notified Puja holidays to five.
