Indian fast bowlers Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar were appointed as Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) by the Bihar government under its 'Medal Lao, Naukri Pao' policy. This initiative rewards athletes who have excelled at the national and international levels with direct appointments to government posts. Both cricketers welcomed the initiative, stating it would encourage young athletes by recognizing sporting excellence with government jobs. Akash Deep described the appointment as a major responsibility and a source of inspiration for young athletes, highlighting that the state government is supporting those who work hard.

Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, who presented the appointment letters, expressed confidence that in the coming years, athletes from Bihar would bring glory to the state and the country on prestigious platforms like the Olympics, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, World Cups, and the IPL. Apart from Akash Deep and Mukesh Kumar, the state government has appointed up to 180 players of various sports in different government services, and a total of 637 players are expected to receive scholarship letters in the current financial year.
