The Nilgiri Tahr population in the state has shown a significant increase, reaching 1,364 individuals according to a recent survey. This represents a 4.68% rise from the 1,303 animals recorded in 2025. Furthermore, it marks a substantial 32% increase compared to the 1,031 estimated during the first synchronized survey conducted in 2024. This growth indicates positive outcomes from conservation efforts for the endangered species.
