In the far north of Northumberland, the largest contiguous rewilding site under single ownership in the country has been established. The vast 7,500-acre Emblehope Moor has been acquired for £8.5m by Restore, a nature restoration company dedicated to working with landowners across Britain.
The innovative project ensures that investors in Emblehope Moor will receive their financial returns, after which the land will be transferred to community or charity ownership, aiming to remove the element of greed from land acquisition for environmental purposes.
